Bookstore Visits – 9.28.2011

Bookstar Barnes and Noble
A few days before the signing in Studio City I drove by the store and saw that they had placed my name up on the giant Bijou esque marquee. I stopped the car and had to take a few pictures. I was really moved. It suddenly became very palpable. I had written a book. It really didn’t matter how well it sold or even how well it would be received. Thursday evening we took two cars and drove to Bookstar which is only about two miles from our place. Everyone had a job. The twins were in charge of handing out candy and water. Peter took video testimonials and Gigi and Michele greeted people. I am so lucky to have all of them. There was a fair amount of press and lots of my friends showed up. The bookstore had ordered three hundred books. The first hour had a steady flow of people but thee was still time to socialize. I saw lots of people whom I hadn’t seen in a very long time including Connor Carmody who played my son on Bold and the Beautiful. I was struck by how many kind and supportive friends I have. The second hour was definitely much busier. I signed dozens of books while my friends and people I did not know mingled. Luciano Saber had come to interview me for AspiringHollywood.com. He also interviewed other actors such as Charlene Tilton, Christian LeBlanc, Patrika D’arbo, Orien Richmond and Rowan Blanchard. Later we all went across the street for dinner at Mexicali. It was a great evening.

The Drama Book Store
I was really concerned that rain was going to kill the event. It had been drizzling for several hours preceding the signing. Michele and I arrived at the bookstore on West 40th street. The wind was really blowing and it was surprisingly cold. The staff was very friendly and had placed a small table in the back of the bookstore for me. There were about a dozen people already waiting including Angie and Maria who are always at my side supporting me. The most difficult thing for me to do at these signings is not get up and wander the aisles looking at books. I simply love getting lost in a bookstore. Several friends came to the signing as well as a really nice couple from Texas whom I had met several days earlier at the hotel where my parents were staying. They were in town for a few days waiting to go to Paris. The signing was a real success. Although the store only purchased a few dozen books we sold all but a handful which the store had me sign. They remained there for sale.
