There exist two types of men in this world -Elvis men and Beatles men. Neither is more right than the other, just different. This Modern Gentleman is definitely an Elvis man. You other Elvis men surely know about the “Memphis Mafia”. These guys headed by Red West were the first real posse in the music world. He travelled everywhere with his crew who took are of his needs from 1956 until the day he died August 16, 1977. Let’s take a moment of silence, right here, right now to remember the King, Elvis Aaron Presley.

One of the guys in the Memphis Mafia had the responsibility to carry with him at all times a cigar box full of various “items” Elvis’ deemed indispensable and could never find himself caught without, not unlike the secret service agent who carries the “football” for POTUS. The “football” is a special briefcase that carries nuclear launch codes and probably some high tech retinal scanner. POTUS represents the acronym for President of the United States. I digress.
The Modern Gentleman always prepares for any eventuality that he may encounter. Since future remains unseen you need to plan ahead like Elvis hence the “Elvis kit”. I keep mine in a black leather overnight kit not too different than a shaving kit. Inside I keep the following items for myself and anyone who may need something they have forgotten or may need.

• Spare pair of contact lenses with lens case and solution
• Tooth brush, tooth paste, dental floss and mouthwash
• Deodorant
• Hand sanitizer
• Moisturizing lotion and sunscreen
• Hair gel and hair brush
• Bandages
• Double stick tape (wardrobe malfunctions)
• Bar of soap (hotel size)
• Shampoo/Conditioner (hotel size)
• Disposable razor
• Lysol (travel size)
• Pair of latex gloves (you just never know)
• Pen/pencil
• Twenty dollars
• Clean pair of socks, boxers and a plain white crew neck t-shirt
• Various single use packages of pain relievers, allergy medication, and stomach remedies
• Folding lock blade knife
• Flashlight
• Compass
• Fluorescent glow sticks (accidents and raves can happen at any time)
